One week to go..to go on a 28 hour series of airplane flights to end up in Kathmandu, Nepal.....followed by an early rising to fly to Lukla (google its airport..gulp!)....and then a trek to Mt.Everest Base Camp.

Mt. Everest is the peak to the left and behind in the photo. You can see the Kumbo Ice Fall down to the left and the Kumbo Glacier on the bottom of the picture. Everest climbers leave Base Camp and head up the Ice Fall in their effort to summit Everest.

You cannot see Everest from Base Camp as it it tucked behind that mountain in the foreground. We will see it several times on the trek..if weather allows...we will also climb a "hill" (18,800 ft above sea level) the morning after reaching Base Camp to get a clear view of Everest.
